Instead of creating individual questions one by one in Moodle, you can choose to import multiple questions into the question bank all at once. Moodle has a number of different formats that can be used to import questions into Question bank categories. There are two methods to upload multiple quiz questions in one setting.
____________________________________________________________
Method #1. Use the simple Aiken format to import the text file directly into the Moodle question bank. However, this method is for Multiple Choice ONLY.

Step 1. Format your Multiple Choice questions to the Aiken format. Then save the file to text format (.txt):

The Aiken format is a very simple way of creating multiple choice questions using a clear human-readable format. Here are two examples of the format:

What is the correct answer to this question?
A. Is it this one?
B. Maybe this answer?
C. Possibly this one?
D. Must be this one!
ANSWER: D

Which LMS has the most quiz import formats?
A) Moodle
B) ATutor
C) Claroline
D) Blackboard
E) WebCT
F) Ilias
ANSWER: A

Note: The question must be all on one line. Each answer must start with a single-letter character, followed by a period '.' or a bracket ')', then a space. The answer line must immediately follow, starting with "ANSWER:" and then giving the appropriate letter.

Step 2. Go to your Moodle course page, click on the “Questions” tab under the Administration block on the left column
Step 3. On the Question Bank page, click on the "Import" button at the top of Question Bank
Step 4. On the "Import questions from file" page, under "File format" choose Aiken format, under "Import from file upload" browse for the .txt file you have created in Step 1, Upload this file
Step 5. The next page says Parsing questions from import file, click "Continue" at the bottom of the page
Step 6. All your questions are now in the Question Bank and ready for use!

Here is a Youtube video about how to do this.

Method #2. If you have more than just Multiple Choice questions, you can use the Moodle XML Converter to convert the question text into XML and then import the XML file into Moodle:

Step 1. Prepare a text file of your questions in the right format (.txt). If your questions are on a Word document, save the file to .txt format. Follow the examples for each question type below:

6. A Service Desk brings many benefits to an organization. Key to these is increased customer satisfaction & perception. Customers benefit from a single point of contact which prevents the need to chase organization teams for updates or resolutions etc. A service desk will be able to produce more accurate information for management, and ensure that support resources are more productively used. Successful implementation of changes is not a benefit determined by the Service Desk function.
